98.16% of primary school age children starting reception in September 2026 offered one of their preferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Almost 16,000 parents and carers across the county will find out the outcome of their primary school applications today (Thursday 16 April).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year, Essex County Council received a total of 15,738 primary school applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of these, 14,218 pupils have been offered their parent or carer’s first preference of primary school. This is 90.34% of the total cohort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another 5.58% have been offered second preference of school. This means 95.92% were offered their first or second preference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In total, 98.16% have been offered one of their named preferences of primary school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A spokesperson for Essex County Council said: \u201cStarting school for the first time is an important milestone in any child\u2019s life. We wish all children in Essex starting their academic journeys in September every success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe continue to invest in creating more primary school places so that as many parents and carers as possible receive their preference of school for their child.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Those who applied online will receive confirmation by email or by visiting the Essex County Council website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
